Swimming, Swimming

We did 2 weeks of swimming lessons this summer again with all 3 boys this time.  Hunter and McKay took a class together, and then Ashton had a private lesson right after.

This was Ashton's first experience with lessons, but he showed no fear.  He did awesome!

It is so nice to go to a lovely private pool and have our friend's daughters teach the boys.  They are so patient and good with them!

Ashton's favorite part was jumping!

Hunter and McKay learned to dive this year.  There were lots of belly flops, but they eventually got the hang of it.

Diving through a hula hoop really helped.

Ashton looked forward to swimming lessons everyday!

Our friend got us a guest pass to the court club one day and took us to the water park attached to it.  It was a little cold that day, but we had a blast anyway and it wasn't crowded at all.

Love swimming!

Little Bits of Summer

Summer is almost over!  Next week it will be time to start getting ready for school--- a time I both dread and look forward to at the same time.  (How does that happen?)  Anyway, right now I'm not ready to let go of summer, so here are some of the little things we've done to pass all the free time.

Hunter was busy at the beginning of the summer with music camp and scout camp, so during those I took Ashton and McKay places to occupy them.  Sometimes we'd go to Columbia park to feed the ducks and geese with whatever crumbs we could find in the car.

Look at those adorable babies!

Or sometimes I'd take them to my favorite nursery/garden store to play while I shopped for landscaping ideas and plants.  They have a giant gorilla at the entrance you can take a picture with.

At the end of Hunter's two week marimba camp we got to hear him play a concert at Flat Top park. He's in the way back playing the bass marimba.  He LOVED it.

Of course hanging out with our neighbors is always a summer pastime.  Nathan and Ashton love hanging out together.

Summer also means eating outside.  Here is our 4th of July lunch.

We always do a boating night with two of our neighbors and it has become my favorite night of the summer.  This year we picked up Thai food, then had fun pushing each other in the river and swimming.  Here are the guys-- they were the first to get wet.

And here they are sunning themselves so modestly!

Summertime means playing with cousins at Grandma's house in Royal City.  They all piled into Grandpa's truck to drive around the farm.

We had to go pick the last of the cherries before they were all gone.

Summertime means being so exhausted from all the fun that we sometimes have impromptu naps on the couch.

That's how it should be, right?
