The Easter Bunny came to our house on Saturday this year, since he knew Sunday would be busy with church.  The boys had baskets stuffed with books, candy, bubbles, and art supplies.

Then we went to a friends' house for an easter egg hunt in their back pasture.  Luckily it was beautiful weather.

Later in the day we dyed easter eggs.

We got the Marvel Superhero kit, so we had an iron man egg, a spiderman egg, etc.

Then of course I made ham, potatoes, and deviled eggs for dinner.  It was a perfect day.  (Which was good, because the next day we all got sick and have been ever since!)

A Good Read

My Dad's story is in a new LDS book called "Why I'm a Mormon."  It's a collection of unique biographies and testimonies of different members of the church and is really interesting.  When my parents were here my Dad gave me a signed copy.  I've enjoyed reading all the different stories from so many inspiring individuals.  Give it a read if you get a chance--I highly recommend it.

I was at the church book store the other day and just looked around to see if it was there.  I couldn't find it but didn't think much of it.  Then when I was at the register I happened to turn around and there it was on the best seller shelf.  It was pretty cool.

I know I'm COMPLETELY biased and can't be trusted at all, but really it's a good book!

McKay Palooza!

McKay turned 5 on April 2, and it turned into birthday week around here.  Really, the festivities never ended.  It started with a birthday picture shoot with Karen:

Then treats at pre-school the next day.  Here's his birthday book and birthday kiss from Miss Patty:

His birthday crown and birthday balloon:

And the birthday easter eggs he passed out to his friends.

Then on Saturday we had a little party and neighborhood easter egg hunt.

We just put up all our Easter decoration and I made a special, but super easy birthday cake.  It had two layers that I dyed green and purple, was frosted with chocolate frosting, then had kit kats all the way around and Easter M&M's on top.  He LOvED it!

I didn't have enough kit kats and m&ms for the 2nd cake, (which had blue and yellow layers) so I just used some Easter candy I had on hand.

Here's most of the neighborhood kids that came:  (A few were gone, since it was spring break and all.)

Darn started to rain just as they were finishing up.

They dumped out their eggs to check the candy just like it was halloween.

McKay is SOCIAL and spends a lot of time at the neighbor's houses, so they know what he likes.  He got guns, grenades, candy, and more guns!

Here he is trying to carry all his weapons at once.
On Monday, which was his actual birthday, my parents came into town and took us out to dinner.  McKay chose IHOP, which was really fun, and then his other grandparents came over and we had ice cream cake.  Mckay loved the attention.  Although he took my Dad into his room, opened his chest and showed him all his guns, knives, swords, and grenades.  I think my Dad might be a little worried about him......

Since they couldn't come to the party, a few days later Karen and her kids brought a present over and I made cupcakes.

So I ended up making 4 birthday cakes in one week.
What is wrong with me?
Oh yeah, I'm a sucker for this face.

You only turn 5 once, right?

I Give Up

Is taking a serious Sunday picture too much to ask?

Apparently it is.  So I give up.

More Toddler Mess!

Mind you, this is just a glimpse of the fun we have.

                                                                      So MUCH fun!
                                                             (Sarcasm heavily implied.)
